The ambiance is very unique, and generally not too crowded but would still recommend making a reservation for larger groups. The meal is all you can eat and we left extremely full. I would recommend filling up on the appetizer course as that was definitely the highlight. The entrees and dessert both had a few high notes but generally weren't as good as the appetizers. Would recommend this place for people looking for a different type of Indian food, and especially for vegetarians.

We had a great experience at Vatan. Yash, our server, was kind and knowledgeable. We had one guest with a food sensitivity, and he made sure to point out all items that had that ingredient. Standouts included: 1. Sev Puri - so flavorful and unique! 2. Batakanu Sak 3. Veggie of the day, which today was Gobi Matar 4. Indian ice cream The vibes are impeccable! We will surely be back.

Vatan is a 5/5. Visited twice and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. Vatan is truly one of the most unique restaurants. The interior is absolutely beautiful and is decorated superbly. The meal is all you can eat and includes an appetizer, main, and dessert course. My favorite dish was the sev puri dahi puri that had a balance between crunch, sweetness, and spice. The sev was fresh and generously sprinkled on top. The mirchi bhaji was quite spicy, so definitely ask the waitress is you have any preference for spice. I enjoyed the samosa and it had a nice lightness and simplicity. For the main, I loved the poori and sambar. Everything tasted authentic and hearty. For dessert I recommend the mango ice cream!

A great experience to try authentic Indian food from appetizers including a yogurt dish which was my favorite. Each of the courses gave all kinds of dishes. The gulab jamun, malai ice cream, and chai tea were great desserts. The ambiance is very cool and for certain tables, you take off your shoes. Service is wonderful and they explain each dish.

Great deal for 45$. The venue is sizable for large parties with big enough space and it's not loud. The menu is prefixed all you can eat. They give you a little bit of everything for you to try and you can ask for more of the things you like. There are add-ons and specials but you'll def be full with all the food already. My favorites were the desserts. The Mango ice cream was fresh and flavorful. The waitstaff was attentive and came at a good cadence to check-in. Overall a good experience.

Vatan is a true culinary experience. That's not an exaggeration. If you're vegetarian, this place is a must-try. Even if you're not vegetarian, the food here is so delicious, you won't even notice. It's not trying hard to substitute meat, and there's no fake meat or processed vegan alternatives- it's just traditional, awesome vegetarian cuisine. Vatan offers cuisine from Gujarat- this is a state in northwestern India, and it's actually relatively difficult to find restaurants that serve Gujarati food in the US. So it's a real treat that Vatan even exists, let alone is so tasty and offers such a great atmosphere. Vatan offers an all-you-can-eat experience- it has a prix-fixe menu with three courses (appetizer, main course, dessert), and for each course, you can eat to your heart's content. You just have to ask your server for whatever items you want to get a second/third/fourth/Nth serving of, and they'll bring it right to your table. It's essentially a buffet where you don't need to get out of your seat- pretty awesome. The great thing about Vatan's food is that it allows you to sample a wide variety of Gujarati dishes- and most of these are not found in typical Indian restaurants in the US. Some of my favorites are the muttiah (an appetizer made from chickpea flour), dahi puri (a snack made with hollow wheat shells filled with yogurt, chutneys, and potatoes), mirchi bhaji (a batter-fried stuffed chili pepper), the variety of curries, the deliciously fresh and piping hot pooris, and the amazing mango ice cream. The service at Vatan is worth highlighting- I've never had a bad experience there, the servers are always so friendly, helpful, and kind, it feels like a family member is attending to you to make sure you have a nice experience. The server I had the other day actually remembered me from when I had last dined there two years before- I was blown away! Anyway, I can't say enough great things about Vatan. It's a great place to dine for a special occasion, it's just a fun time. Make sure you go hungry, because you're going to want to keep eating while you're there, trust me.

After my second visit- I wanna provide a truly deserving 5 stars. Such a delightful experience again, food was delicious & spot on, service was outstanding- our hostess was so kind and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. The cocktails are average and avoidable but everything else is fantastic.

I had a great experience at Vatan! It is a unique, 3-floor restaurant in Midtown that offers an all-you-can-eat Indian vegetarian (they do accommodate other dietary restrictions like vegan diets!) 3-course meal!! They do not offer a la carte options. I made a same-day reservation for a group of 7 for dinner, and was seated on the basement floor known as "The Cave". The artwork and decor were beautiful all throughout the restaurant! The appetizer thali was medium-level spicy at baseline, and all the dishes were so yummy! I enjoyed how the server explained each dish during each course and specifically explained the vegan options for some of my fellow diners. The main course thali was able to be tailored to what spice level you requested between mild, medium, and spicy. The dessert options were plentiful as well and so so good! Our server checked during each course if we wanted more of certain dishes, and was willing to bring anything more that we wanted. We also celebrated my boyfriend's birthday and they brought out an extra ice cream cup with a candle in it which was very sweet (I called to let the restaurant know before the dinner)!! I would definitely recommend this restaurant and cannot wait to go back sometime!

I've been meaning to try out Vatan for a while now after seeing it across social media. I came on a Monday night at 7 PM with a group of three. Reservations were very easy to make on Yelp. We were seated in the bottom portion. For the tables they require you to take off your shoes to enter the seating area. The seats were wooden benches with some cushions on top and pretty comfortable. The decorations within the restaurant were beautiful and intricately decorated. The restaurant serves all you can eat pre-fixe menu with items for appetizers, mains and desserts. Every item can be refilled as many times as you want. They give you as much time to each each course as you want and do not rush you at all. The food was great! There were a few items I was not a big fan of but apart from that everything was lovely. So many selections to try out. Service itself was also wonderful. Our server, Divisha, was very friendly and really helped to make the meal an enjoyable time. All in all, a great experience. $45/person is very reasonable for all you get and I can't wait to come back soon.
